OBJECTIVE

Our team was tasked with digitizing, condensing and reimagining Starbucks’ global Barista Training program—previously a multi-week, analog experience—with goals of reducing attrition, resources, hands-on manager time and overall training time.  

SOLUTION

We built a gamified, globally-scalable, branded experience that provided new baristas a safe space to learn and practice Starbucks’ signature customer service and drink-making processes—all without the stress of being trained on the line in front of real customers.

Designing, filming and writing more than 900 screens of unique digital guided content, the innovative barista training combined interactive learning, instructional videos, guided hands-on activities and games to ensure new barista success. We wanted to create a safe and fun place to build essential muscle memory and hone critical barista skills before they were ever behind the counter.
